This article previously presented DIN 8077 and DIN 8078 as the dimensional and quality standards for polyethylene (PE/HDPE) pipe. That was incorrect, and we are correcting it in public rather than quietly deleting the page.
DIN 8077 and DIN 8078 are polypropylene (PP) standards — DIN 8077 covers PP pipe dimensions and DIN 8078 covers PP general quality requirements and testing. The standards that actually cover polyethylene are a different pair: DIN 8074 for PE pipe dimensions and DIN 8075 for PE general quality requirements. Any sentence on this page that described DIN 8077/8078 as a PE sizing authority was an error of attribution, not a typo, and every conclusion built on it was unreliable.
Two things are separately true and worth keeping apart. Our HDPE pipe does carry the printed marking “GERMANY STANDARD DIN8077/8078” (per our catalogue) — that marking is a fact a buyer can see on the product. Whether those standard numbers are the correct ones to cite for a PE pipe is a different question, and the honest answer is that they are not. We would rather you read that from us than discover it during a tender review.
